Kate Middleton receives a “special” gift from the Queen on her 31st birthday

In addition to receiving expensive and sparkly presents from her husband Prince William on her 31st birthday, Kate Middleton got an extra-special gift from the Queen Elizabeth II.

Letters Patents issued by the Queen stated that any child of Prince William and Kate, be it a boy or a girl, will be titled, His or Her Royal Highness. So, if the Duchess has a girl, she will be a princess! The decree was issued via the House of Lords last December but was publicly announced today.

The proclamation reads, “The Queen has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 31 December 2012 to declare that all the children of the eldest son of The Prince of Wales should have and enjoy the style, title and attribute of Royal Highness with the titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their Christian names or with such other titles of honor.”

Meanwhile, according to Palace sources, Kate celebrated her birthday privately with Prince William on Wednesday, January 9.
